Trolling is a fishing technique practiced both in sea and in fresh water. It consists of leaving a bait, lure or live, behind a moving boat, at a slow or medium speed, around 3 to 5 knots, and up to 10 knots. It is sometimes practiced using an echo sounder to follow the structures and determine the most suitable places. Light trolling can be done with a simple roller, holding the line in your hand with gloves. More generally, it is practiced using single-strand or two-strand rods, in fiberglass or carbon, fitted with ceramic or pulley rings. These rods have capacities of 10-30 lbs for light trolling, and 50-130 lbs for heavy trolling.
