We had one goal in mind when designing the Makaira and that was to build every component to withstand the pressures of harsh environments.
Makaira spinning reels are derived from the Okuma 4D Concept which focuses on Design, Drive, Drag and Durability. Constructed from the finest materials available, Makaira reels are the toughest and most durable reels an angler can own. Makairas are developed to pursue big game from Giant Trevally, trophy-sized Yellowtail and Amberjack, to the most formidable adversaries such as giant Bluefin Tuna, Marlin, and large sharks.
